“I Pray For Guidance” – Stonebwoy On Dealing With Negative Criticism In The Music Industry

Ghanaian Reggae/Dancehall artist Stonebwoy has shared his perspective on handling criticism in the music industry, stating that he has come to realize that high achievers are often the ones targeted.

During an interview on Onua Showtime with Nana Ama McBrown on November 3, the ‘Overlord’ hitmaker, who has frequently been the subject of attacks from fellow musician Shatta Wale, discussed how he copes with negativity.

Stonebwoy revealed that he leans on prayer and divine guidance to handle such situations. “I’ve come to understand that people throw stones only at the ripe fruit,” he noted, reflecting on the reality that success often attracts criticism. He added, “It’s not something we should get used to because I don’t believe God created us to endure insults all the time.”

Reflecting on his personal approach, Stonebwoy explained, “I pray for divine discernment to know when to respond, when to remain silent, and when to heal. It’s not easy, but experience has taught me that you need wisdom in dealing with these things.”

“Every morning I wake up, someone is talking about me. Just today, one man spoke ill of me again. But you have to ignore and focus on what’s important.”

Ultimately, Stonebwoy’s experiences have shaped his understanding of success and criticism. His approach emphasizes resilience, patience, and staying true to one’s purpose amid the noise.
