Lance Walker, Grand Isle Fish Commander Charter Captain is Dead

Captain Lance Walker, a Charter fisherman out of Grand Isle LA, operating the Fish Commander Charters & Lodging company, has died.

Lance Walker’s death was announced by numerous distraught friends, colleagues and clients who were stunned to hear the news of his passing.

“RIP Lance walker , we lost a great captain , fish had no chance with this great fisherman when he was on the water.” one tribute to Walker shared on social media read.

Walker’s cause of death has not been officially revealed, but unofficial sources claim the avid hunter died after suffering a fall while hunting in Colorado. His family has yet to comment on his cause of death.

Lance Walker was born and raised in Baton Rouge, Louisiana and has been fishing since childhood when he was taken on the water by his grandfather, who owned fishing camps in Grand Isle and False River.

He began his career at the age of 15 when he became a charter boat deckhand, achieving captaincy by age 19. Over the years, he expanded his experience beyond fishing charters, working on hunting ranches across several states, including Mexico, Kansas, Kentucky, and Mississippi.

He has been operating offshore charters for close to two decades. He worked with notable charter companies such as Southbound Charters, Strike Zone Charters, and Paradise Outfitters and also established his own company, Fish Commander Charters which he has operated for over 15 years. He has operated vessels such as a 32′ Twin Vee, a 31′ Contender, 30′ to 60′ sport fishers, a 35′ Cabo and most recently, a 32 foot twin fee catamaran powered by twin Yamaha 300 four-strokes.

Lance Walker leaves behind three children. He has been hailed by many for his professional exceptionalism but also generosity and kindness.

“Lost but never forgotten. The guy who took me in and gave me a home and a job when I was 18. Treated me like a brother. Best fisherman, hunter, and friend I ever had,” Andrew Bateman said in an emotional tribute.
