Shield, 52, was hit by the bucket of an excavator as it tipped over, according to information from the Allegheny County Sheriff’s Office.

The incident occurred in the 2200 block of Robinson Boulevard just after 11 a.m. Tuesday, October 30th, 2024 in Stowe Township.

“Please help bless Heather and the boys in the wake of Jason’s passing. They will need our support in the coming days and this is one small way we can assist them as a community,” the GoFundMe, organized by Ann Marie Pirnat, read.

“Heather has always been so generous to her friends and family, let’s take this opportunity to shower her family with that same love in their time of need,”

The fundraiser, with a goal of $20,000, quickly realized its aim.

Friends also chimed in with beautiful tributes to Shield over what a wonderful person he was. There were also tons of messages pledging support for his surviving family.

“You could have been anywhere in the world but your favorite place to be was with your 3 boys on the sideline or in the stands of any of their football, hockey or lacrosse games. Now you get to watch them all with a birds eye view. We love you.,” one tribute read.

Another said: “He was such a good person and friend to so many in our community. Heather, you and the boys are in my sincerest thoughts and prayers. He will be so missed by so many.”
