Rebecca Geiger, a 45-year-old Omaha, Nebraska teacher, has been killed by her husband, Rory Geiger, in a domestic violence shooting.
Rory Geiger, 44, shot and killed Rebecca ‘Becky’ Geiger, a teacher at Westside High School, sometime before 3 a.m. Monday morning.
Sarpy County Sheriff’s Office deputies were dispatched to the scene of a domestic violence incident in the early hours of Monday, October 28, 2024 at a residence near 143rd Street and Meadows Parkway in the area of Chalco Hills.
A 911 call had been placed from the residence from someone who said their father had shot their mother. The caller was later identified as the couple’s 19-year-old daughter.
When deputies arrived on scene, Rory Geiger, who had killed Rebecca prior to their arrival, opened fire on deputies.
An exchange of fire ensued in which Rory was killed. It’s currently unclear if the returning fire from deputies killed him or if he took his own life.

Records show the Sarpy County Sheriff’s Office had dispatched deputies to the residence a month ago in regards to a mental health issue.
Rebecca Geiger, who tragically died in the shooting, was revealed to be a teacher at Westside High School.
She was a special education teacher with ten years experience.
A statement from Westside Community Schools mourned her passing.
Geiger’s “kindness radiated throughout the school; helping students feel seen and valued.” the statement began. “She cared about her students and made sure they felt a sense of belonging and she did it well,”
