Pearl Agbomadzi, a 20-year-old interior decorator, faces murder charges after the death of a 74-year-old British man, John Scott Hughes, in Ghana. According to the case details, on August 2, 2024, Mr. Scott Hughes called Pearl and arranged to meet her at American House. They then headed to Philipo’s Movie House, a popular entertainment spot in East Legon.
Mr. Scott Hughes booked room 7 for himself and Pearl, whom the prosecution identified as his girlfriend. After watching an adult movie, the two reportedly engaged in a consensual intimate encounter. However, during the encounter, Mr. Scott Hughes lost consciousness and collapsed to the floor.
Pearl, noticing the severity of the situation, immediately sought help from the receptionists and informed them of her partner’s condition. The police were alerted, and Mr. Scott Hughes was taken to Legon Hospital, where the medical team confirmed his death. His wife filed the complaint leading to the legal proceedings.
