Remi Wagner, Milwaukee Ballet II Dancer Is Dead

Remi Wagner, a ballet dancer performing with the Milwaukee Ballett II dance company, has died.

Wagner’s death was shared by Milwaukee Ballett II in a statement shared on social media on Wednesday, October 23, 2024. No cause of death was given.

“We are deeply saddened to share the passing of Remi Wagner, a dancer with our Milwaukee Ballet II Second Company,” the company said in its statement. “Remi had been a beloved member of the Milwaukee Ballet family since the start of the 2023/24 season, and we all greatly grieve his unexpected loss.”

They expressed condolences to his family and friends and pledged to carry on his memory in creating the ‘art he loved’.

“Our thoughts and prayers are with his family, friends, and all others whose lives he touched with his kindness and passion. We will carry Remi’s memory with us as we continue to create the art that he loved,” the statement concluded.

Remi Wagner originally hailed from Colorado and trained with the San Francisco Ballet. He started ballet dancing at age 6 in Colorado, joining the San Francisco Ballet School as a trainee in 2021.

At SFB, he performed in Helgi Tomasson’s Nutcracker, was a featured dancer in Myles Thatcher’s “After Light”, danced various roles in Giselle, Cinderella, Seasons, etc., and choreographed his role in Stereo is King.

Wagner won 1st place for both classical and contemporary ballet at the Youth America Grand Prix, the world’s largest student ballet scholarship competition. He has been a guest artist for Panama Youth Ballet and Bolshoi Ballet Spring Festival (Moscow).

In the 2023/24 season, Wagner joined Milwaukee Ballet II Second Company where he performed until his untimely death.
