Jesse Kendall, GoFundMe Set Up for High School Senior Killed at Lil Durk Concert in Chicago

Jess Kendall, a senior at Elgin High School was shot and killed outside the United Center in Chicago while attending a Lil Durk concert.

Kendall, 18, and his girlfriend had just parked their car and were headed to the concert Sunday night when they were robbed at gunpoint.

Kendall suffered fatal gunshot wounds in the robbery. Two other bystanders were shot, both teens. They’re both battling injuries with one of them in critical condition in the hospital.

A GoFundMe was set up to help Jesse Kendall’s family following his tragic demise.

“Please help support the Kendall family in their time of grief. Gary, Doris, Gary Jr., and Tommy have just experienced the devastating loss of their son and brother, Jesse,” the fundraiser said. “Nothing can prepare a family for a loss like this and it is our hope to at least alleviate any financial pressure they may experience at this time.”

The GoFundMe for Jesse Kendall has so far raised circa $6,000 out of a $10,000 goal.

The shooting occurred on Sunday, October 20th. Jesse’s girlfriend managed to ran from the assailants and call his brother, Tommy, to inform him of what happened.

Tommy spoke to ABC7 and said his brother and his girlfriend were attending the concert at the United Center and had driven an hour to Chicago. Jesse was a huge Lil Durk fan.

He said they parked a few blocks from the Center and were walking there when they were attacked.

“They’re walking on the way to the concert, and four guys come, two on bikes, two on feet. They got masks on,” Tommy said.

He said they took his brother’s and girlfriends belongings and shot Jess.

After receiving the call from his brother’s girlfriend, Tommy raced to his side by the hospital but he passed in the early hours of Monday morning.

“My mind is racing. I’m never going to see this little kid again. I did whatever I could to protect him,” Tommy said. “I lost my best friend, my little brother. For what? Maybe he had $20 in his pocket.”

According to his brother, Jess was a senior at Elgin high school, loved cars and wanted to go to automotive school.
