Victoria Louise Bailey, a 9-year veteran officer with the Rowlett Police Department in Texas, has tragically died, the Department announced in a statement.

Bailey’s cause of death was su*c*de, the statement revealed. It wasn’t immediately clear what incident precipitated her decision to take her own life.

The Rowlett Police Department said in their statement: “The Rowlett Police Department is deeply saddened by the heartbreaking loss of one of our own. Last night, Officer Victoria Louise Bailey tragically took her own life.”

Victoria previously served in the Air Force, the statement said, adding that she then spent nine years with the Denison Police Department before joining Rowlett in 2022. She was a well-renowned Field Training Officer, mentoring numerous officers and building strong teams.

“Victoria lived a life defined by service. From 2008 to 2011, she served in the U.S. Air Force, followed by nine years with the Denison Police Department,” the statement added. “On March 13, 2022, she joined our Rowlett Police family. where she quickly became a cherished and respected member of our team.”

Members of the community remembered Officer Bailey for her strong work ethic and professionalism whenever she dealt with them.

“When she worked for the Denison Police Department, she rented my granddaughter, a motel room one night out of her own pocket. Just to get her away from an abusive boyfriend. I have more stories about what a wonderful person she was. This has broken a lot of hearts, in my family,” one community resident said in a social media post.
