Nollywood Actress Bimbo Akintola Explains Why She Remains Unmarried At 54 – ‘The One I Could Have Loved Forever Is Dead’

Bimbo Akintola, the popular Nollywood actress, recently shared her personal reasons for remaining single, revealing that the love of her life passed away, which is why she has chosen not to pursue another relationship. At 54, she explained that she hasn’t remarried because the man she truly believed she could spend her life with is no longer alive.

Reflecting on her past, she admitted that it took a long time to find someone she could see a future with, and his loss has made it difficult for her to imagine being with anyone else.

‘He died… I don’t talk about it, but he died. Do you know how long it took me to find him, a very long time, but he is gone.”

She further emphasized her belief that marriage should be about more than just tradition or societal pressure: “I don’t believe that you get married for marriage’s sake. If you are not going to be truthful to your vows, then why are you doing it?” She explained that while it’s possible to love more than one person in a lifetime, she wouldn’t pursue that unless she truly believed she could spend her life with them.Bimbo also addressed societal pressures, saying she won’t marry simply to meet expectations or to make the world happy. She believes in being truthful to herself, as in the end, only she will answer to God for her decisions.

Although she has dated since her partner’s passing, Bimbo hasn’t found anyone she could envision a lifelong commitment with. She acknowledged that marriage is difficult and wouldn’t enter into one unless she is sure that the person is the right one for her. However, she remains open to the possibility of remarriage if she meets someone who she believes she can spend forever with, regardless of her age.
