Kamleshkumar Patel, Tesla Driver Killed in Car Accident was Fremont Software Engineer

Kamleshkumar Patel has been identified as the Tesla driver who was killed after crashing into an apartment building in Fremont Monday night.

Patel, 46, of Fremont, died when he lost control of his car on the 44700 block of Old Warm Springs Boulevard.

He rammed into the apartment building in Fremont, causing damage to the fire and a fire. The crash led to police and fire officials evacuating the entire building.

Luckily, the first floor of the building was reserved for commercial tenants and was empty. All residents were from the second floor up leaving no one injured.

“The vehicle caught fire while it was still in the building, so out of caution we evacuated the entire building for everyone’s safety,” Fire Battalion Chief Dan Brunicardi said. “Then we decided to pull the vehicle out once we got the fire knocked down enough to pull the vehicle out of the building.”

According to police, Patel was driving southbound on Old Warm Springs Blvd. when he lost control of the vehicle and crashed into the building. The cause of the crash is still under investigation. It has not been determined if drugs or alcohol were a factor in this crash.

According to public records, Kamleshkumar Patel, born June 1978 (46 years old) is a software engineer in Fremont. He emigrated to the United States after his early education and was trained in California higher education schools. He loved reading, hiking, scuba diving and golf, according to his family.
