Tamara Lapadatovic, a Serbian woman and her boyfriend were killed during an accident that occurred in New York City on Sunday, October 13th.
Following her demise, her family started a GoFundMe to raise money to fly her body back home to Serbia for burial. The fundraiser has so far raised upwards of $70,000.
Lapadatovic, 35 from Nis, Serbia, was riding a motorbike with her boyfriend, Aleksandar Aco Jokanovic, originally from Montenegro, in the Upper East Side around 4:43 am Sunday when they crashed into a Toyota RAV4 near 3rd Ave. and E. 103rd St. in Manhattan.
First responders arrived not long after the crash but both Tamara and Aleksandar were declared deceased. The driver of the RAV4 was transported to hospital in stable condition. Police has made no arrests in the case.
Tamara Lapadatović moved to New York in 2017. Her family described her as a “vibrant soul, always radiating positivity and warmth…she brought joy to everyone around her, facing life with a smile and unwavering kindness.”
Meanwhile, a similar fundraiser for her boyfriend, Aleksandar Jokanovic, aimed at raising funds to transport his body home, has raised circa $85,000 at the time of publication.
