A car accident in Groton has left a family devastated as son Carson Wilson was killed and his brother, Skyler, left with serious injuries.

The crash occurred around 1:21 a.m. on Monday, October 14, 2024 when a vehicle containing four young boys, all former Groton Public Schools students, left the roadway and crashed into the woods on Fishtown Rd near Little Gull Ln.

The accident left all four occupants of the vehicle trapped in the 2012 Toyota 4runner and had to be extricated by Emergency personnel. They were subsequently transported to L&M Hospital in critical condition.

While in hospital, Carson Wilson succumbed to his injuries. His brother, Skyler, remains in critical condition.

Friends of Chris and Sterna Wilson, Carson and Skylar’s parents, have started a GoFundMe to help the family in this trying time.

“Please keep Carson and Skyler and the entire family in your prayers. Please also send love and support to their friends and classmates, all middle and high school students who are reeling from the news,” the fundraiser said. “Whether you know the family from lacrosse, hockey, football, dance, school, Chris’ business Noank Fence and Construction, or any of the many other community connections they have, please consider making a contribution to allow them time to heal and grieve.”

The fundraiser has so far raised over $40,000 out of its $50,000 goal.

Meanwhile, the superintendent for Groton Public Schools released a statement on the crash.

“Early this morning, I was made aware of an automobile accident on Fishtown Road involving high school students. While none of them are attending Groton Public Schools this year, they are all former GPS students, and all are valued members of our Groton Community. Our hearts go out to them and their families during this difficult time.” the statement read.
