Richard Hahn, Retired Forest Lake High School Band Director Killed in Car Crash

Richard Hahn, a former band director at Forest Lake High School in Minnesota has died following a car accident.

Hahn’s death was reported by members of the school’s 1988 alumni class who were formerly his students.

“We received the terrible news that Richard Hahn, the Forest Lake High School band director from August, 1980 to June, 2009, was tragically killed in a highway accident in rural Minnesota. His wife, Jeanette, was seriously injured, and she underwent surgery this afternoon,” the post read.

Hahn served as Forest Lake High School band director for 29 years before his eventual retirement. He was also the bands director for Henning Public Schools.

Hahn graduated Minot High School and studied Music education at Minot State University. The Minot, North Dakota native also studied instrumental music education at St. Cloud State University.

Some of the former students in the 88′ class reminisced over what Mr Hahn was like in tribute to him.

“Very sad news. A few of us 88 grads just got together and went over a bunch of band memories recently. Very thankful to have him as a teacher.” one person wrote.
