Media personality Nana Aba Anamoah has praised Vice President and New Patriotic Party (NPP) flagbearer, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, for his well-rounded approach to addressing illegal mining, commonly known as galamsey.

In a recent post on X, Nana Aba described Dr. Bawumia’s proposed solutions as the most practical she has encountered.

During a stakeholder meeting, Dr. Bawumia laid out a comprehensive strategy to clean up the small-scale mining sector. His plan includes empowering the Geological Survey Authority to accurately map mineral reserves and creating a resource pool of equipment to support sustainable mining practices. He also stressed the need for mercury-free gold-catching machines to encourage environmentally responsible mining.

Nana Aba, reacting to these proposals, expressed her approval and acknowledged the Vice President’s deep understanding of the complexities surrounding galamsey. She noted that his strategy offers realistic solutions to tackle the problem effectively.

“I just listened to Dr. Bawumia’s remarks on galamsey. Glad he’s finally addressed the menace. His solution is the most practical I’ve heard so far. I hope he follows through if he gets the mandate,” Nana Aba posted on X.
