‘Marriage Isn’t on My Prayer List’- Nigerian Actress Ini Edo Shuts Down Wedding Rumors

Nollywood actress Iniobong Edo has shared that marriage is no longer a priority in her life, stating that it’s not something she prays or hopes for at the moment.

In an exclusive interview with PREMIUM TIMES on Wednesday in Lagos, Ini opened up about her current mindset. In September, she sparked a lot of excitement and speculation when she posted a photo of herself in a traditional Efik bridal outfit. Many believed this was a wedding announcement. Her caption, which spoke about love and encouraged people not to lose hope in finding happiness, further fueled these rumors.

However, the supposed wedding post turned out to be a promotional teaser for her upcoming four-part series, ‘My Fairytale Wedding,’ which revolves around a young woman who uses magic (Kayanmata) to capture the heart of Lagos’ most eligible bachelor. Fans soon realized that the post was about the show, not her personal life.

The 42-year-old actress was previously married to Nigerian-American businessman Philip Ehiagwina, with their wedding taking place on 29 November 2008 in the United States. Sadly, their marriage ended in 2014.

When asked if she still dreams of having her own fairytale wedding someday, Iniobong made it clear, “I’m not obsessed with marriage; I’m more focused on having a solid relationship. It’s not something I’m praying for or hoping for.”

In 2021, Iniobong welcomed her daughter through surrogacy using her own eggs. For her, this was the perfect way to fulfill her dream of becoming a mother, and she is incredibly grateful to be raising her child.

Since her breakout role in the 2004 film ‘World Apart,’ Iniobong, originally from Akwa Ibom, has remained a prominent figure in Nollywood, starring in over 200 films and earning numerous awards.
