Juventus Duorinaah Makes History As Ghana’s First Deaf Lawyer Called To The Bar

Juventus Duorinaah has made history by becoming the first deaf Ghanaian to be called to the bar.

Hailing from Wa in the Upper West Region, Mr. Duorinaah’s journey began at the Wa School for the Deaf, where he completed his basic education. In 2007, he graduated from the Senior High Technical School for the Deaf (SHTSD).

He went on to study at the University of Ghana, earning a first-class degree in Sociology and Political Science. With a passion for human rights, Mr. Duorinaah then pursued a Master’s degree in Law at Cardiff University’s School of Law and Politics in the United Kingdom, specializing in Human Rights Law.

Upon his return to Ghana, Juventus Duorinaah enrolled in the law degree program (LLB) at the University of Ghana, where he graduated with second-class lower honors. Determined to achieve his goal of becoming a lawyer, he passed the entrance exams and was accepted into the Ghana School of Law.

After six years of rigorous legal education, Mr. Duorinaah has finally reached a monumental milestone by being called to the bar. His achievement marks a significant moment for the deaf community in Ghana, as his legal expertise will allow him to advocate for the rights and interests of deaf individuals in the country.
