Lee Mauras, Clackas Community College Wrestling Star Tragically Killed in Portland Shooting, GoFundMe Says

Lee Mauras, a former Hempstead High School wrestling standout currently competing for the Clackamas Community College, has died.

Mauras, of Freeport, was killed in a shooting incident in Portland, Oregon aged just 22. He leaves behind one child.

Lee was a wrestling star all through High School, competing for Freeport High School and Hempstead High School. He was a four-time Nassau County medalist/3x finalist/back-to-back titlist in 2019 (for Freeport) and 2020 (for Hempstead).

Mauras was trained at the Savage Wrestling Academy.

After competing at Iowa Central for the 2024 season, Mauras made a commitment to Clackamas Community College Wrestling for the ongoing season. He was preparing to compete for Clackamas in the NJCAA in Portland when he was tragically shot and killed.

His family started a GoFundMe to raise money to fight for justice in his name in regards to his killing.

The fundraiser lists its goals as…

• Cover legal fees as we fight for justice in Lee’s name.
• Provide travel and accommodation support for his family as they make their way to and from Oregon for the court proceedings.
• Ensure that Lee’s voice is heard in the fight for justice, and that his family can be present every step of the way.

The fundraiser, with a starting goal of $50,000, has so far raised just about $2,000.
