Justin Bingham, the CEO of Opiniion, a venture backed resident satisfaction software company, fell to his death while canyoneering in Utah over the weekend.
Bingham, who also doubled as the operator of ‘Our Life in Holland’ family vlogging channel, was rappelling through Heaps Canyon in Zion National Park when he fell over 150 to his death.
He was with three other people when the accident occurred who quickly radioed for help.
Zion National Park’s search and rescue team quickly arrived on-site with officers from the Washington County Sheriff’s Office.
Life saving measures were quickly implemented before the Utah Department of Public Safety extracted Bingham by helicopter to the Watchman Campground area to receive additional medical attention.
However, despite all their best efforts, Bingham could not be saved, according to a statement from Opiniion announcing the tragic news.

“It is with deep sadness that Opiniion announces the passing of our CEO, Justin Bingham. Justin was involved in a tragic accident while enjoying one of his greatest passions—exploring the outdoors. Despite the best efforts of over 50 team members of various rescue teams, he passed away on the night of Saturday, Oct 5, 2024,” the statement read.
The statement described Bingham as a ‘visionary’ who ‘believed in the power of genuine connections.’
“His commitment to building meaningful relationships made a lasting impact on everyone who had the privilege of knowing him,” it added.
Opiniion also announced that co-founder and Chief Operating Officer (COO), Devin Shurtleff, would be taking over Bingham’s role as company CEO.
The company, which Bingham founded and raised capital to back, is a resident satisfaction software which helps property management companies to keep track of the needed feedback from residents to ensure the smooth operation of the property. According to its LinkedIn description: “We automate how [companies] collect authentic, real-time feedback from residents.”
Justin Bingham graduated Brigham Young University (BYU) in 2009 with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Business. He founded Opiniion in Lindon Utah in August 2017
A serial entrepreneur, Bingham also founded several companies prior to Opiniion, most of which were later acquired by larger companies including KZ in Provo Utah. He was a major shareholder in NeighborhoodEats, a Bay Area home cooked meal service that was later acquired by Josephine.
Bingham also ran a family vlogging channel, Our Life in Holland, documenting his family life. He was married with four children.
