Brian Ratasiewicz, Saint Mark’s High School Coach, Tragically Dies

Brian Ratasiewicz, a baseball coach at St Mark’s high School in Wilmington, Delaware, has died. He was 49.

Ratasiewiczs’ death occurred over the weekend, according to a post from Saint Mark’s which announced his passing. No cause of death was announced.

“It is with heavy hearts that we share the passing of Brian “Rat” Ratasiewicz. “Rat” spent his last day helping at Open House and later enjoying a Phillies game with his Saint Mark’s family. He was the voice of Saint Mark’s, announcing at most athletic events and serving as part of the baseball coaching staff,” the school wrote.

It added that Rat had joined the church’s Student Services team which brought him tons of satisfaction, having described it has his ‘dream job’.

Brian graduated Delcastle Technical High School and for years has been coaching and mentoring the students at St Mark’s.

His great impact was noted by fellow teacher Michael Williams who hailed Brian as a ‘mentor, coach, family man, and dear friend,.

“My words do no justice to the impact he had on kids, particularly my boys. Heaven gained an Angel who is putting together the best baseball team imaginable. Coach Rat, you will be missed more than you will ever know! RIP my friend,” he wrote.
