Kai Thompson, a popular teen surfer with over 100k followers on Tiktok, is currently in critical condition following an accident.
Kai was leaving home to surf when he was involved in an accident just two streets away from his home.
The accident left him in critical condition and currently receiving treatment at the CHOC – Children’s Hospital of Orange County.
According to his parents, Kai’s injuries are severe and include he has bruised ribs, broken pelvis, a severe concussion, a broken nose and lacerations to the face, mouth, and tongue.

Thompson is also suffering from severe internal bleeding after a grade 4 tear to his liver and to his kidney. Doctors are currently monitoring his condition to find the right time to intervene.
His mother said: “He’s in a lot of pain and it’s hard to talk but the good news is there’s no trauma to the brain. Right now we are just all holding our breath as the surgeon said and saying prayers that bleeding remains controlled.”
The family expressed gratitude to all who have sent messages of support and prayers in this hard time and called for more prayers and positive thoughts as he faced his remaining medical battles.
Users on social media also sent their reactions to the sad news.
One message read; “The entire surf community is praying for our little hero, Kai has always been fearless in his approach in the water, and know he will always have that spirit in the coming days. We are all heartbroken because he’s such a special person & we all send him positive thoughts & prayers.”
14-year-old Kai Thompson is a multiple champion surfer from California whose surf videos have gained him a massive following on TikTok and Instagram.
Thompson won the 14 and Under Airshow division competition during the recently held NSSA’s West Coast Regional Championships, one of many accolades he’s picked up throughout his young career.
