“Akufo-Addo Is Giving Us a ‘Yen Tie Obiaa’ Vibe” – John Dumelo Says Amid Anti-Galamsey Protests

Published by

John Dumelo, the NDC Parliamentary Candidate for Ayawaso West Wuogon, has strongly criticized President Nana Akufo-Addo for seemingly ignoring the ongoing illegal mining (galamsey) crisis that continues to devastate the country’s environment.

Dumelo, who was present at the third day of the recent anti-galamsey protest to highlight the damaging effects of galamsey, questioned the President’s commitment to protecting Ghana’s natural resources.

In an interview with Joy News, Dumelo didn’t hold back, stating, “Akufo-Addo is giving off ‘I don’t care’ and ‘yen tie obiaa’ vibes, but I don’t believe this is the kind of uncouth legacy he wants to leave, one tied to the galamsey menace.” His remarks followed growing concerns that the current administration is not doing enough to tackle the illegal mining issue.

Addressing rumors that the NDC is using the galamsey crisis to score political points, Dumelo firmly denied the allegations. He stressed that the protest was a unified effort by Ghanaians to pressure the government into taking meaningful action to protect the environment. According to Dumelo, water bodies have been heavily polluted, and forest reserves have suffered significant destruction, all due to unchecked illegal mining.
