Residents of Atlanta Marriott Marquis Hotel Stunned as Man Jumps From 40th Floor to his Death

A disconcerting scene played out at the Atlanta Marriott Marquis Hotel in Atlanta when a yet-to-be-identified man committed suicide by jumping from the 40th Floor of the massive building.

A video taken by some occupants of the hotel in the immediate aftermath of the man’s death made its way to social media and showed them discussing the traumatic events they witnessed.

According to reports, the unidentified man jumped from the 40th floor of the 47-story edifice, which is ranked as the 15th tallest skyscraper in Atlanta.

It’s unclear what might have led to the incident.

The video of the residents talking about the incident was shared on social media with the caption: “BREAKING: A man just jumped from the 40th floor in the Marriott Marquis in Atlanta.”

Stunned netizens reacted to the incident with varied reactions.

The Atlanta Marriott Marquis was completed in 1985 and designed by Atlanta architect, John Portman Jr. Sometimes referred to as the ‘Pregnant Building’ or the ‘Coca Cola’ building, it has 47-stories and stands at 554 ft.

Numerous notable movies including The Hunger Games: Catching Fire, The Hunger Games: Mockingjay – Part 1, and Flight had some scenes filmed at the hotel.

The stunning incident has left all who come across it on social media pretty shook and one can imagine the residents of the hotel even more shook.
