Rex Plant is the Chief of Police for the Memphis Police Department in Hall County, Texas who was shot in the line of duty by fugitive Seth Altman.
Plant and another Memphis PD officer were serving a warrant on Altman for burglary when he pulled out a handgun and opened fire on them.
Chief Rex Plant was hit by multiple rounds and was seriously injured. He was airlifted to a Lubbock area hospital where he’s receiving treatment.
According to his family, Chief Plant remains in critical but stable condition. He has already undergone one surgery but has a few more to face. Physicians are monitoring him for infection and giving the body time to heal from the first surgery. He is expected to make a full recovery.
“Please pray for him and the family and pray that they catch the man that shot him,” cousin Sue Logan said.

A manhunt remains ongoing for Seth Altman who continues to evade law enforcement. Altman, 33, is described as a white male, approximately 6 feet 2 inches tall and weighing 220 pounds. He has blue eyes and red or auburn hair and is to be considered armed and dangerous.
The FBI has offered a $5,000 reward for any information leading to the arrest of Altman. Texas Governor Greg Abbott’s office is also offering a $10,000 reward.

Altman if arrested faces a charge of attempted capital murder of a peace officer.
