Mikus’ death occurred on October 1, 2024. She was 40.

Lindsay Mikus worked as a caregiver at the Woodstock Farm Sanctuary in High Falls, a position she’d held since 2018.

Aside from her work as a caregiver, Mikus was an animal rights activist and veterinarian.

“This week, the world lost Lindsay Mikus, an incredible activist, mother, veterinarian, friend, and caregiver. Lindsay was goofy, warm, so smart, and had the best giggle. She was always ready to help anyone who needed her, human and nonhuman,” the Woodstock Farm Sanctuary shared in a post announcing her demise.

The fundraiser, with an initial $7,000 goal, has so far raised $9,785.

Numerous people expressed condolences to the Mikus family on their loss.

“So sorry 😞 She sounds like such a wonderful human being. God gained an angel for sure. 💞” one comment on social media read.
