Sanaa Vil, GoFundMe Established to Support Family of Sherwood High School Senior Killed in Tragic Accident

Sanaa Vil, a 17-year-old student of Sherwood High School tragically lost her life in a car accident on the morning of Wednesday, October 2nd, 2024.

Vil was driving to school when she was involved in a vehicle collision at the intersection of Norwood Road and Nesbitt Farm Lane in Maryland’s Montgomery County.

Police found her car collided with a wooden light pole, killing Vil and injuring two other 17-year-old occupants of the car, a boy and a girl.

The other victims, also students, were transported to a nearby hospital in critical condition.

Sanaa Vil according to her family was an outstanding student both in and out of the classroom. A senior at Sherwood High School, she was set to graduate in the spring and had plans to attend college in the fall.

Vil was active in school sports and societies, being a member of the varsity women’s basketball team and an active member of the Black Student Union.

The Sherwood High School authorities sent out a letter informing families of the tragedy, writing: “In moments like these, we are reminded of the importance of leaning on one another for support, empathy, and comfort. Please know that we are here to offer care and resources as we navigate this difficult moment together.”

To help her family, a GoFundMe has been organized for Sanaa Vil. It has so far raised circa $3,000 and is aiming for a total of $50,000.

Sanaa is survived by her parents and four siblings.
