The Apostle General of Royalhouse Chapel International, Rev. Sam Korankye Ankrah, has made a heartfelt appeal to the Inspector General of Police, the government, and other relevant stakeholders for the immediate release of the detained #StopGalamsey protesters.
He expressed concern for the young men and women who were arrested during the Democracy Hub demonstration against illegal mining and the ongoing challenges in the country. “I am pleading with the government, the courts, and the IGP to release these individuals. They should be granted bail and, if necessary, brought before the court if they have done something wrong. Keeping them in cells only worsens the situation, fueling anger and frustration, which could lead to further unrest,” he stated.
While condemning certain actions during the protest, such as the alleged incident where a protester threw away the key to a police vehicle, he urged understanding. “If that happened, they certainly crossed a line.
As one of the fathers of this nation, Apostle Ankrah called for mercy. “Our sons may have made mistakes, but let’s forgive them. Throwing them behind bars won’t resolve the problem. Let’s release them and encourage peaceful, democratic demonstrations. March with your placards let that be the message. We don’t want violence.”
