Showbiz analyst and pundit, Vida Adutwumwaa Boateng, has expressed her disappointment over the issue between gospel musician Ohemaa Mercy and her former publicist, KOKA, which led to his arrest. Speaking on UTV’s United Showbiz on Saturday, Vida criticized Ohemaa Mercy’s decision to involve the police over KOKA allegedly threatening her life.
“I’m truly disappointed in Ohemaa Mercy for having KOKA arrested. In our line of work, you can’t afford to be emotional because it’s a public space where people will talk about you. You’ll be criticized, and sometimes, those close to you might feel bad. But once you train yourself not to be emotional, what people say won’t affect you. I believe emotions got the better of KOKA, which led to him saying things he shouldn’t have,” Vida remarked.
She went on to highlight her respect for KOKA’s commitment to Ohemaa Mercy’s brand, pointing out that if he hadn’t been trustworthy, Ohemaa Mercy would never have entrusted him with the responsibility of marketing her major event, Tehillah Experience, and securing sponsors.
“Yes, KOKA can be loud and opinionated, but deep down, his love for the job and dedication to what he does is unquestionable,” Vida added. “In this industry, it’s hard to find people like him who are genuinely committed to helping a brand grow. Helpers and investors are rare, so when you find someone like KOKA, who’s willing to work hard and secure sponsors, you don’t treat them lightly.”
What bothered her most, Vida said, was the fact that Ohemaa Mercy had reportedly acknowledged owing KOKA money, yet chose to handle the situation by involving the authorities instead of resolving it privately.
“I believe this could have been handled with a simple conversation. Involving the police wasn’t necessary,” she added.
