Gavin Browning, a high school student in New London, Iowa, has tragically passed away.

Browning’s death was reported in a statement from the New London Community School District released Saturday, September 28th, 2024. No cause of death was given but reports intimate Browning died in a car accident in New London.

“It is with profound sadness that we inform you of the tragic passing of one of our high school students, Gavin Browning. This loss is a heart-wrenching event for our entire community”, the statement, signed by Chad Wahls, Scott Kracht, Todd Palmatier, read.

The CSD announced the provision of mental health and counselling resources to their students to help them deal with their grief. The District’s Crisis Response Team has been activated and from Monday, counsellors from the school and from neighbouring district schools and churches would be provided to help students navigate the loss.

Numerous people who knew Browning took to social media to mourn the loss of this young man.

“This is breaking my heart. Gavin was so special to us. Prayers to his family and friends. I am happy that we saw him just a few days ago and got my Hug,” one post read.
