“Leave Me Out of It” – Shatta Wale Slams Youth For Asking Him To Comment On #FreeTheCitizens Campaign

Published by

Ghanaian dancehall artist Shatta Wale has lashed out at the youth following their repeated demands for him to voice his opinion on social media regarding the recent arrest of Democracy Hub protestors.

The protest, which was meant to push for better leadership and government accountability, led to the arrest of several demonstrators under the #FreeTheCitizens movement.

In a series of voice notes shared on X (formerly known as Twitter), Shatta Wale made it clear that he didn’t want to be part of the discussion. He expressed frustration that the same youth now calling on him had not supported him in the past when he spoke up about problems in the country. The dancehall star, who recently released his album ‘SAFA,’ pointed out that when he criticized the entertainment industry before, people accused him of being jealous of other artists.

Shatta Wale also said the youth were being misled by people who cared more about their own interests than the good of the country. He warned them to leave him out of their social media campaign and added that, unlike the protestors, who he claimed weren’t serious about their protests, he is “untouchable” in the entertainment industry because he always speaks his mind.
