Connor Furtain Death – Another Los Osos High School Student Reported Dead by S*ic*de

Connor Furtain, a student at Los Osos High School in Rancho Cucamonga in California, has been identified as the second death to die by suicide at the school in less than a month.

Furtain reportedly took his life in an eerily similar manner to another student who died earlier this month, Emily Gold, by jumping off the 210 Freeway near Haven Avenue in Rancho Cucamonga around 1:30 a.m. on Thursday, September 26th, 2024.

KTLA reported the death of another Los Osos High School student Thursday but declined to identify them.

“We can’t begin to express the depth of our grief over the heartbreaking loss of another student from Los Osos High School,” Chaffey Joint Union High School District Superintendent Dr. Mathew Holton said in a statement released Thursday. “Our deepest condolences go to the families and friends of both students lost in recent weeks. We stand united in supporting our community through this difficult time.”

While not formally identified, posts on social media named the second victim as Connor Furtain.

“We are deeply saddened by the loss of students Emily Gold and Connor Furtain. Our condolences to their grieving families, loved ones and the entire Los Osos High School administration and student body,” a statement shared by the Rancho Tsunami Water Polo Club read.

Authorities are investigating Connor’s tragic death which occurred at the same location Emily Gold took her life earlier this month.

As we reported at the time, Emily Gold, a 17-year-old senior at Los Osos High School died via suic*de after jumping onto the 210 Freeway in Rancho Cucamonga around 11:50 pm the night of Friday, September 13th.

According to reports, a female pedestrian jumped off an overpass east of the Haven Avenue and landed on the Eastbound 210 Freeway. Multiple vehicles reportedly passed over her and she was pronounced dead on the scene.

Gold was a senior at Los Osos High School and was present on both the Varsity Dance Team and Cheer squad. She was a talented gymnast and a former America’s Got Talent contestant.

A GoFundMe was set up to raise money to help Emily’s family following the tragedy and it raised a whopping $76,449.
