“Where Is the Human Rights Activist?” – Actress Lydia Forson Criticizes President Over Protester Arrests

Actress Lydia Forson has voiced her criticism of the President of Ghana and the Ghana Police Service regarding their treatment of protesters.

Recently, 39 protesters who took to the streets of Accra were remanded by a circuit court for allegedly engaging in unlawful activities. They will remain in police and prison custody until their next court appearance in October.

Many Ghanaians on social media have condemned the police for their actions against the protesters, who were demonstrating against illegal mining.

In a post on X , Lydia Forson expressed her disbelief over the harsh treatment of individuals fighting for a just cause.

She also reminded the President of his past call for Ghanaians to be active participants in national issues rather than passive onlookers. “Dear @NAkufoAddo, this cannot be your legacy! You spent years as a human rights activist, protesting with placards on the streets. What happened? What happened to the man from ‘ku me preko’? Your ‘Fellow Ghanaians’ are only following your charge to be citizens, not spectators,” she wrote.
