“After much reflection, I have made the difficult decision to leave OpenAI… There’s never an ideal time to step away from a place one cherishes, yet this moment feels right.” she said in a statement she shared to X (formerly Twitter).

Murati added: “I’m stepping away because I want to create the time and space to do my own exploration. For now, my primary focus is doing everything in my power to ensure a smooth transition, maintaining the momentum we’ve built.”

Her departure comes at a precarious time for the company with the recent departures of co-founder Ilya Sutskever, former safety leader Jan Leike, and co-founder John Schulman.

Murati played a critical role in guiding teams working on Open AI’s most important products such as ChatGPT and the image generator Dall-E 2. Her quick rise from researcher to CTO was so meteoric that it sparked interesting debates on Reddit, Twitter and other forums.

According to Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella, Murati is skilled at assembling teams and getting them rowing in the same direction, delivering quality work by laser focusing on the core mission of the team.

“Mira has helped build some of the most exciting AI technologies we’ve ever seen, including ChatGPT, DALL-E, and GPT-4.” Nadella said.

Mira Murati husband

One big question people have about the Open AI CTO is whether she is married or not.

Mira Murati has no husband as far as we can tell. In fact, her parents have reportedly been pressuring her to get married, according to Murati herself.

She revealed during a recent interview that when she first showed Chat GPT to her family, her mother’s big question to the artificial intelligence chatbot was “When will Mira get married?”

Her sister replied: “Well, mom, it’s not magic. It’s still artificial intelligence,”

Whilst not married, its entirely possible Mira Murati has a boyfriend, although information on that is not available as well. She keeps her personal life fiercely private hence information on that is understandably scant.

Murati’s net worth is not publicly available. Some figures are floating around – Market Realist puts her net worth at $5m but its unclear how that number came about. Forbes and other reputable organizations have little to say about Mira Murati’s net worth or salary.
