Innocent Protesters Arrested While National Cathedral CEO Is Paid For No Work Done – Malik Basintale Exposes CEO’s Payslip

A post on X by Malik Basintale has caused public anger after revealing that Dr. Paul Yaw Opoku-Mensah, the Executive Secretary of the National Cathedral project, is allegedly still being paid GHC 21,000 a month.

This comes despite the project being halted in 2022, with the board of trustees claiming they were working for free—something many believe is a flat-out lie. Basintale called Dr. Opoku-Mensah a “candidate for jail,” questioning why innocent protesters are being arrested while government officials are still being paid for doing little to nothing.

Innocent protesters across the country are being arrested and remanded for demanding economic reforms and an end to illegal mining (galamsey), while government officials like Dr. Opoku-Mensah continue to receive significant salaries for overseeing what many have dubbed “the world’s most expensive hole.”

The irony is glaring, ordinary Ghanaians are being punished for standing up for their rights, while government officials tied to controversial projects such as the National Cathedral are being compensated, despite the evident lack of progress.
