Despite delegating people, and going down on her knees to apologize to the chiefs at the Manhyia Palace for her derogatory comments, Afia’s pleas fell on deaf ears.
The Otumfuo’s representatives turned Afia Pokua away, forbidding her from ever returning to the palace.
The whole brouhaha started when Afia Pokua, a journalist with Agoo TV, criticised the Asantehene for his silence regarding ongoing conflicts between the Ashantis and other tribes, including the Bonos.
Afia also appeared on TV presenter, Mona Gucci’s Bribi Gye Gye Wo show on Onua TV where she made the same remarks.
While many people lambasted Afia for her comments, some people feel her crime did not befit the punishment.
Some people felt the chiefs were too harsh with the media personality especially since her comments was a constructive criticism over what was really happening on the ground.
They charged the chiefs to allow Afia Pokua have her peace of mind and channel their energy into fixing the galamsey activities affecting their water and daily livelihoods.
