Social media influencer Doug Townson, known by his fans as the ‘greatest car salesman in the world’, has come out to reassure fans triggered by reports that he is dead.
An obituary of Doug Townson went viral over the weekend and got fans spooked when the Watson, Louisiana salesman posted it himself on his social channels.
On his X (formerly Twitter) handle, Townson shared the obit with the caption: “Thank you guys!!! Doug loved all of you!!”
He shared it on his Instagram page with over 600k followers and on his TikTok with over 200k. Safe to say people were panicking at this point.
“This better not be real,” one user commented on the post.

However, before anyone could get scared and lose their minds over his supposed death, Townson commented on the post on TikTok, blaming Garth Brooks for his death and making it clear the post was in jest.
Nevertheless, as the hours went by and Townson kept up his rigorous posting schedule it became clear that he was alive and well.
On his latest IG post, fans had now gotten in on the joke with comments like: “My bro doug came back from grave 😂”
Another said: “I didn’t believe it, I’m gonna need you to hold up present USA TODAY newspaper, we gotta be sure guys.”
Born Douglas Clifton Townson, Doug is a popular car salesman, social media influencer and comedian.
He graduated Live Oak High School and works at the Rainbow Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram (CDJR) in Amite LA.
