A Plus Condemns Violence in #ReOccupyJulorbiHouse Protests

Published by

Kwame Asare Obeng, popularly known as A Plus, has openly condemned the actions of protestors involved in the #ReOccupyJulorbiHouse demonstration.

Speaking on UTV’s United Showbiz, he criticized the violent behaviour, stating that protestors have no right to destroy property. “I don’t support nonsense. You cannot stage a protest and end up destroying other people’s property. Burning billboards and engaging in such actions is a step too far. Are you mad? Is this the democracy you talk about?” A Plus remarked.

He urged Ghanaians to avoid participating in the protest, adding, “Let those who wish to take part do so, but I encourage the rest of us not to get involved.”

The protest, which began on Saturday, 21st September 2024, was initially intended to be a peaceful demonstration against major national issues such as illegal mining (galamsey), socio-economic injustice, unemployment, poverty, and corruption.

However, what was meant to be peaceful quickly turned violent, with demonstrators clashing with the Ghana Police Service. Some protestors resorted to vandalizing billboards and political party paraphernalia near the 37 Military Hospital intersection, defying police orders to stay clear of certain routes.
