Mercy Johnson’s Husband, Prince Okojie, Escapes Assassination Attempt

Prince Henry Okojie, the husband of Nollywood actress Mercy Johnson, narrowly escaped an assassination attempt at his residence, believed to be orchestrated by political thugs. The incident, which occurred on Friday, September 20, 2024, was disclosed in a statement by Okojie’s media aide, Michael Ihaza.

According to Ihaza, gunmen posing as police officers arrived at Okojie’s residence in a Lexus GX 470 with a Rivers State license plate (PHC 253 FF). They claimed to be on an appointment but were soon engaged by Okojie’s security detail, which thwarted the attack. “The armed thugs who disguised as police officers, along with two others, invaded the residence of Hon. Okojie,” the statement read.

Two of the attackers managed to escape, while the driver and another suspect were apprehended and are currently under interrogation by officers from the Nigeria Police Force’s Area Command in Uromi. The arrested suspects have reportedly confessed to being sent by leaders of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) in Esan North East Local Government Area.

Thanks to the quick response of Okojie’s security personnel, the assassination attempt was unsuccessful.
