Tyler Walsh, a Maryland teenager is currently in critical condition after being hit by a drunk motorcycle rider in an accident in Ocean City.
Walsh, 16, was in a marked crosswalk around 9:30 P.M. Friday on 12th Street and Philadelphia Avenue when he was struck by a motorcycle traveling southbound on Philadelphia Ave.
After receiving initial treatment from Ocean City Emergency Services, Walsh was airlifted to R. Adams Cowley Shock Trauma Center in Baltimore where he remains in critical condition.
Michael Scot Schneider, 51, of Ballston Spa, New York, fled the scene following the crash but was later arrested.
Police observed signs of impairment and injuries consistent with the crash upon his arrest and transported him to hospital.
He has been charged with twelve traffic offenses, including driving under the influence and failing to remain at the scene of an accident resulting in injury or death.
He was held without bond by a Maryland District Court Commissioner and transferred to Worcester County Jail.
A GoFundMe was started for the Walsh family following the crash and has raised $28,525 at the time of publishing.
