Ghanaians have expressed disappointment in Napo’s recent outburst about buying excavators for everyone to start their own illegal mining business.
During one of his campaigns, the former Energy Minister stated that everyone must be able to have a source of income and be able to feed their families. And to him, the surest way of achieving that is getting everyone involved in “galamsey”.
His statement has made people wonder if he wants the NPP to retain power or go back to opposition. This is because, the illegal mining activities popularly known as “galamsey” has been destroying the water bodies in Ghana. Most rivers that provide water and fishes to communities have been polluted by the galamsey activities.
As such, a lot of stakeholders and chiefs from the affected regions and towns are giving the Nana-Addo lead government an ultimatum to completely eradicate the galamsey business in Ghana or face the consequences.
As Napo clearly doesn’t use the water from these sources, he seems completely oblivious of the consequences of his statement.
