Jonathan Schubert, Beaverton Nurse Arrested for Melissa Jubane Murder

Jonathan Schubert, a nurse from Beaverton has been arrested and charged with second-degree murder following the death of a colleague nurse, Melissa Jubane.

Jubane, who recently got married, was reported missing by concerned friends and co-workers after failing to turn up for her morning shift as a nurse at Providence St. Vincent Center in Portland on Wednesday, September 4th, 2024.

Beaverton Police carried out a welfare check at her home at an apartment complex on 1050 SW 160th Ave. in Beaverton.

Attempts to contact her by family members and officers also proved futile as her phone was turned off.

Beaverton police officially declared Melissa a missing person later on Wednesday.

On Friday evening following an extensive investigation, 27-year-old Bryce Jonathan Schubert, a neighbor of Jubane, was arrested. Jubane’s remains were also discovered.

Schubert has been charged with second-degree murder and is being held at the Washington County Jail.

The suspect was previously a nurse who worked at Providence Portland Medical Center from September 2022 to October 2023. He is originally from Newberg, according to posts on social media.

According to CNN, Melissa had gotten married just last week.

A GoFundMe has been set up to support the family of Melissa Jubane following this horrific tragedy.

“Melissa was not only a loving daughter, friend, and community member, but also a dedicated nurse who cared deeply for her family, friends, and patients. She touched countless lives with her kindness, compassion, and selflessness,” the fundraiser said.

It had already reached its intended $50,000 goal at the time of publishing this report.
