A GoFundMe fundraiser to support the family of Lenape, NJ high school student London Deshields following her tragic death has picked up significant momentum.
London Deshields suddenly and unexpectedly lost her life to to the shock of her family and friends.
Her death was announced by the Philadelphia Belles, the first girls basketball travel team program that is coached by Dave Deshields, London’s father.
The program wrote in a post shared to X (formerly Twitter): “The Philadelphia Belles are deeply saddened to announce the sudden passing of Coach Dave Deshields’ daughter. Our hearts go out to Coach Deshields and his family during this incredibly challenging time. 🙏🏼🙏🏼”
London Deshields was a Lenape High School student and a top class athlete in her own right, competing in track and gymanstics. The high school sophomore ran the 100m, 200m, and 4x100m, helping her school to impressive performances in track meets.

A GoFundMe started in her honor described her as having ‘a passion for life that shined brightly through everything she did‘ and for possessing energy and enthusiasm that was just ‘infectious‘.
“As we say goodbye to London, we invite you to donate to give her a fitting and beautiful home-going that honors her spirit and legacy. Your generosity will help ensure that London’s memory lives on in a meaningful way,” the fundraiser implored.
At the time of publication, the GoFundMe had raised $27,243 out of its $35,000 goal.
