A Des Arc High School football quarterback, Cache Flanagan, has died, sparking tributes from friends and family.

Flanagan’s death was revealed in several social media posts and tributes. He passed away on Sunday, September 1st, 2024. No cause of death was revealed.

His elder brother, Joseph Derek Flanagan, mourned his brother Cache Pierce. According to him, hearing the news of his brother’s death was the hardest day of his life, and that no words can express the toughness of the loss facing the family.

“Those that know me know how much my baby brother meant to me, it was all I ever wanted. Today is the hardest day of my life and no words can express how tough this is for my family. I will miss you and cherish all the memories we made. I love you Cache Pierce,” Joseph Flanagan wrote.

In a tribute, Heather Smith described Cache as her surrogate son, revealing she had been lucky enough to have him call her mom. She added that she will never be the same following his passing.

“There was this boy that I fell in love with many years ago. He was so easy to love, and I loved him with my whole heart. I had the privilege of hearing him call me Mom for many years, and that is an honor and a privilege I will never take for granted…This morning my heart was broken, and I don’t think it will ever be the same. I will love and miss you forever Cache Flanagan,” the tribute from Heather Smith read.

Cache was a high school quarterback and outside linebacker for the Des Arc High School in his hometown.

The 6’3″, 200lbs teenager played on the 2024 Varsity football team and made 1st Team All-Conference as he led the team to win the Conference Championships.
