DJ Graham, a Shenango High School athlete, has died at the young age of 17.
Graham, from New Castle, PA, died Tuesday, August 27, 2024.
He was a student at Shenango High School where he played varsity baseball. In his sophomore year, DJ was voted ‘rookie of the year’.
Graham’s death was announced by school Superintendent Dr. Joseph McCormick, who said in a message to students and parents Wednesday; “We are deeply saddened to acknowledge that a 17-year-old student at Shenango High School tragically passed away yesterday evening. Our thoughts and prayers are with the student’s family and friends,”
The Shenango High School’s upcoming varsity football game against Ellwood City on Friday was postponed as a result of the tragedy.
David James ‘DJ’ Graham was born August 25, 2007 in New Castle, PA to James and Sarah Graham (née) Knopp.
He had three siblings, Julia, Elizabeth and Evan.
Growing up in Mercer, PA, DJ played little league baseball. Aside from baseball, which he obviously loved, he was also proficient in football, basketball, and golf. Graham also loved fishing.
His death has left his family devastated. His obituary describes him as a lover of hugs, and always making people happy with contagious laugh. May he rest in peace.
