Muna Pandey, Nepali Student Found Shot and Killed in her Apartment in Houston

Muna Pandey, a Nepali student in Houston, TX, has been found shot and killed in her apartment. She was 21.

Pandey was discovered dead in her Houston apartment late Monday, August 26th, according to a report from Nepali media.

Houston Police Department officers were called to an apartment on 6363 West Airport Boulevard around 5:35 PM Monday and found a female subject deceased from multiple gunshot wounds.

Muna Pandey is originally from Bhojpur, Nepal, and had been studying at Houston Community College as an international student. She has been in the United States since 2021 on a study visa.

Pandey is reportedly her parent’s only child. Her mother, Anita Pandey Adhikari, who resides in Kathmandu, has been notified of the tragic incident.

Adhikari reportedly faced significant challenges raising her daughter alone after being rejected by her husband. Nevertheless, she worked tirelessly to provide for her daughter and almost miraculously, managed to secure a position for her studying in the United States to pursue her dreams.

Numerous people who knew her took to social media to pay tribute.

A friend, Orusha Niraula, mourned her on Facebook and called for justice to be served over this senseless killing.

“We demand justice for Muna Pandey, my dear friend and former roommate, who was tragically taken from us… We will not rest until those responsible for this senseless act are brought to justice,” the post read.

It continued that Muna was a great person, always happy with a bubbly personality and full of life.

“Muna was like a sister to me, full of life, kindness, and joy. Her bubbly personality and infectious laughter made every moment brighter. It’s heartbreaking that someone so wonderful was taken from us so cruelly,” it concluded.

Muna was reportedly in a relationship with a white American man, according to Nepali sources. She had reportedly told family members they were having some issues.

Meanwhile, a suspect has been identified in the case by HPD.

The suspect, identified as Bobby Singh Shah, 51, was arrested for the murder and appeared in probable cause court Thursday afternoon.

He was charged with capital murder and denied bail.

Shah was seen in footage with Pandey approaching her door with a black pistol in his hand.

Pandey could be heard asking, “What are you going to do?”

He responded by racking the slide of the pistol and telling her to open the door again. When she did, he shoved her inside and locked the door.

An hour later, he left the apartment.

According to reports, following Shah’s image being released publicly, a restaurant owner contacted police and said he was a regular patron. A woman also reported meeting him on a ‘Sugar Daddy’ website.
