Award winning singer Mariah Carey recently shared the heartbreaking news that both her mother, Patricia, and her sister, Alison, passed away on the same day over the weekend. In a statement released on Monday, the renowned singer expressed her deep sorrow: “My heart is broken that I lost my mother this past weekend. Sadly, in a tragic turn of events, my sister lost her life on the same day.”
“I feel blessed that I was able to spend the last week with my mom before she passed. I appreciate everyone’s love, support, and respect for my privacy during this impossible time.”
As of now, no further details, including the causes of Patricia and Alison’s deaths, have been disclosed.
Her mother, Patricia, was a Juilliard-trained opera singer and vocal coach. She was previously married to Alfred Roy Carey, with whom she had three children: Alison, Mariah, and Morgan. They divorced when Mariah was three.

Her relationship with Alison was also strained. Mariah explained that, for her emotional and physical well-being, she had chosen to distance herself from both Alison and their brother Morgan at the time.
