Ghanaian media personality and TV show host, Captain Smart, has lashed out at the running mate for the NPP, Dr. Bawumia, for what he describes as belittling the intelligence of Ghanaians.
During his morning show, Captain Smart accused Dr. Bawumia of lacking empathy, which he believes is the reason behind Dr. Bawumia’s disappointing responses during the recent press conference.
He argued that Dr. Bawumia was unable to provide clear answers to any of the questions he was asked, leaving many Ghanaians disappointed.
Captain Smart particularly took issue with Dr. Bawumia’s response when asked why he keeps making promises about actions he will take when he becomes president instead of implementing solutions now.
Dr. Bawumia had stated, “If I solve all of Ghana’s issues now, I won’t have anything to do when I become President.” This remark was met with strong disapproval from Captain Smart, who criticized it as being dismissive and out of touch with the immediate needs of the Ghanaian people.
According to Captain Smart, such statements only paints Dr Bawumia as incompetent and untruthful.
During the press conference, Dr. Bawumia was asked about the continuous depreciation of the Ghanaian cedi against the U.S. dollar and what measures he intends to implement to stabilize the currency.
In response, Dr. Bawumia stated, “The fluctuation of the cedi is due to external factors, including the global economic downturn and rising oil prices. However, the government is committed to strengthening our economic fundamentals and boosting foreign exchange reserves to stabilize the cedi in the long term.”
This answer, however, did not satisfy Captain Smart, who felt it lacked concrete strategies and immediate actions to address the ongoing depreciation.
