The Ranking member on the Parliamentary subcommittee for Youth, Sports and Culture has revealed that the government of Ghana spent $15 million on feeding athletes during the All Africa Games.
Kobla Woyome, the Member of Parliament for South Tongu, made the revelation following a recent sitting of the Public Accounts Committee which scrutinized the expenditures made by the government in hosting the Games.
According to him, the absurd expenditure deserves to be explained by the government starting with accounting for the number of athletes present and how much it cost to feed them.
This comes on the back of another revelation by the Minister for Youth and Sports, Mustapha Ussif, who revealed that the government paid the Ghana Broadcasting Corporation a whopping $3m to broadcast the games, a claim GBC flatly denied.
It appears the entire game was simply a looting exercise for the gov’t.
