Loudmouth Ghanaian media personality and host of Onua TV’s morning show, Captain Smart, has made serious allegations against the Nana Addo-led administration.

According to Captain Smart, the government has sold the Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG) to the Chinese Government. He claims that this is the root cause of the recent hike in electricity prices.

Captain Smart elaborated that the Chinese, who are allegedly now in control of ECG, are charging higher rates because they need to recover funds quickly.

He further alleged that the takeover is part of a broader agreement between the Ghanaian and Chinese governments, intended to settle the significant loans Ghana has borrowed from China over the years.

The purported deal, according to Captain Smart, has placed a financial burden on ordinary Ghanaians, who now face exorbitant electricity costs. He also suggested that the arrangement has deeper implications for Ghana’s economy, as control over a critical utility like electricity has been handed over to a foreign power.
