Angela Bacares and Hannah Lynch are the wife and daughter respectively of Mike Lynch, the British tech entreprenuer who has gone missing following the sinking of the Bayesian yacht.

Mike and Hannah went missing when the superyacht sunk off the coast of Palermo in Italy. Angela, who legally owns the Bayesian yacht, was rescued and is currently recuperating.

What happened?

Mike, his wife Angela, daughter Hannah and some other close friends and associates were all on his yacht celebrating his acquittal in a recent fraud case brought against him by Hewlett Packard when a violent storm hit and the boat sunk.

One person, the ship’s cook has been reported dead following the incident and fifteen others rescued including a baby and Lynch’s wife, Angela Bacares.

The Bayesian reportedly capsized in the wake of a violent storm around 5 a.m. local time while anchored off the coast of Porticello, a small fishing village located in the province of Palermo.

Meanwhile, Mike, his daughter Hannah, and four others remain missing.

Angela Bacares Lynch is the wife of British tech entrepreneur, Mike Lynch.

The 57-year-old was one of fifteen people rescued when the yacht sunk.

According to reports, she suffered foot abrasions during the sinking and is currently unable to walk. She is in a wheelchair with bandages on many parts of her body.

In an interview, Bacares revealed that they were sleeping around 4 am when they were awakened by a tilt of the yacht. Her husband and daughter remain missing.

Angela Bacares is the owner of the £30 million worth Bayesian yacht through her company Reytom, which is based in Isle of Man. The luxurious vessel has won many awards for its incredible interior which was purely designed for comfort by design house Remi Tessier.

It houses up to 12 guests in 6 suites as well as 10 crew members.

Bacares is also co-founder of the cybersecurity firm Darktrace, which she founded with her husband, Mike.

According to the Standard Tech Rich List, Angela Bacares Lynch has an estimated net worth of £190.9 million.

Mike Lynch’s daughter Hannah, who is just 18-years-old, is one of those missing following the sinking of the Bayesian yacht.

Hannah reportedly just completed her A-levels and was all set to study English at Oxford University before tragedy struck.

Who is Mike Lynch?

Michael Richard Lynch is a British entrepreneur known as the co-founder of the Autonomy Corporation and the founder of Invoke Capital. He was born June 16 1965 in Ilford and was educated at Cambridge, earning his undergraduate degree in Natural Sciences and eventually, a PhD in Neural Networks.

In 1996, he alongside a couple of friends formed Autonomy, a search software company. He served as the company’s Chief Executive Officer (CEO).

The three co-founders built the company into one of the UK’s top companies and in October 2011, sold it to Hewlett-Packard for more than $11 billion.

Following the sale, a legal battle commenced between himself and HP which accused him of inflating Autonomy’s value. He was extradited from Britain to the U.S. in 2023 to stand trial but ended up ‘beating the allegations’, so to speak. He was acquitted of fraud charges in June.

Mike Lynch has a net worth of $1bn, according to Forbes. Aside from Autonomy, he founded the venture capital firm Invoke Capital. Lynch was awarded in OBE and was elected a Fellow of the Royal Academy of Engineering in 2008.
