A GoFundMe has been started for Cooper Russell Bertram, an Elko youngster who was killed in a tragic motorcycle accident.

Bertram, 20, was killed late Thursday while riding his Suzuki motorcycle southbound on I-35 in New Market Township.

He failed to properly negotiate a lane split while riding at a high rate of speed and crashed into the back of an SUV, ending his life at the scene.

To cover funeral expenses, his family has set up a GoFundMe.

Cooper was “outgoing, funny, kind and smart (well kinda). He was working as a diesel mechanic and he loved getting to work on big trucks, he would come home so dirty, full of oil and mud and start digging for food (which was gross). He was so eager to turn 21 and had big dreams of going to Nashville,” the fundraiser said.

Aiming to raise $100,000, the fundraiser has yielded $14,000 at the time of publishing this article.
